No baby yet...

So when we went to the doctor yesterday he decided to just wait and let everything happen naturally. Well it is coming along VERY slowly.

I woke up Monday morning to some small contractions. They continued all day long. We went to the doctor in the afternoon and he said that the contractions were not progressing me enough for now so we just want home.... feeling a bit disappointed. The contractions continued for the whole day and got really bad around 1 in the morning. They weren't very close together, but they were pretty painful... mostly in my lower back. So we headed to the hospital. They hooked me up to the monitors and checked me. After an hour or so of painful contractions the nurse came in and checked me again and I hadn't progressed at all. Since I was in so much pain they gave me a shot of morphine before they sent us home. We got home around 3:30 or so and I was glad that I was able to get some sleep. I started waking up to contractions again at about 7 and would wake up every 10 to 30 minutes in pain and then go back to sleep. That continued until about noon when I finally pulled myself out of bed. The contractions have continued throughout the day, but they are just not getting regular or close together at all. Scott didn't want to leave me alone so my mom has been great to hang out with me today. I am just tired of being in pain every few minutes. Everyone says this will be worth it... I'm sure it will be but I am ready for it all to end and this baby will come. I don't like going through contractions that aren't helping me progress very fast.

What a fun and stressful week!

So it has been a fun, but stressful week. So on Thursday morning I had my regular doctor's appointment. The doctor became a little concerned because I haven't really been growing. I have gained some weight, but the measured size of my uterus wasn't increasing so the doctor ordered an ultrasound. He was afraid the baby wasn't growing or that the fluids were low. He talked about the possibilities of an early delivery or even a kinda bed rest. So on Thursday I was kinda freaking out. I kept telling myself that there was no reason to freak out cause it was only two weeks early, so he would be just fine, but I just couldn't help it. We pretty much had nothing for the baby, we were waiting for the baby shower to see what we got before we bought our own stuff. Plus I really didn't want to miss the baby shower and Scott's mom was coming into town and I wanted to be able to have a fun weekend. So I spent Thursday thinking about some of the things I could do to get ready if we had to deliver the next day, but mostly freaking out. It didn't help that I was getting a cold sore and the doctor gave me a prescription. I went to try and fill it and they wanted $150 for it, with our insurance and we have pretty good insurance right now. I almost started crying at the store.... just one more stress for the day. I didn't get the cream, deciding it wasn't worth it, I have been putting the stuff I usually put on it and that has worked pretty good. Scott was good to take care of me when I got home from the store. It was nice that he was able to take some time off to be there. Plus Scott's mom was amazing and just happened to send flowers that day. Also that night Matt and Jessica and family come over to watch the BYU basketball team in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament. It was great to have some distractions with my family so that Scott could still get some homework done without worrying about me too much.

So on Friday, with me running off of a little sleep since for some reason I woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep, we drove to the hospital for the ultrasound. We had to wait for a little while and while in the waiting room I realized how lucky we were since there were others there that were possibly losing their babies. We finally got into the ultrasound room and things went pretty good. The baby is a good size, measuring at about 6 lbs 6 oz. My fluids are a little low, but not dangerous. They did decide that it would probably be a good idea to induce me around 39 weeks, so I only have about a week until this baby comes. I haven't actually talked to my doctor yet so we will have to see what the schedule actually is. My doctor is actually out of town this week so next Monday is the first day that he will be back and there is a good possibility the baby will come sometime around then.

On Friday night Scott's mom came in. It was so fun to pick her up from the airport and then have dinner at the Training Table! Yeah for cheese fries!

Saturday Scott worked and Renae and I helped get ready for and have the baby shower. We decorated for a bit with my mom and then my sister in laws Jessica and Betsy arrived to finish help setting up and getting the games and food ready. Here is Chloe and Tanner, before the shower. He is about 4 months old and he looks just as big as Chloe! This is the food and some of the decorations for the party. The food was all so yummy! It was perfect. Everyone worked so hard! Chloe eating some yummy food with our cool all-star sports plates. There was some major traffic problems so people were a little late showing up, but once the party got started we had a blast. We played some fun regular baby shower games. Here I am guessing the melted candy bar in the diaper.... I never actually tasted it. Everyone also had to guess how big I am... which isn't very big. The guesses were in a wide range, and Chloe and Cindy were both very close, almost exact. Renae had an interesting way to measure her guess. Our last game was bottle chugging. We got 3 volunteers who realized how had it is to drink from a bottle. Aunt Dona, my Grandpa's sister, was the amazing one to win. We were all surprised when she volunteered and it was awesome to watch! Then it was time to open the gifts. Everyone was so nice to us. We got just about everything that we need for the baby and I am feeling so much better about having this baby in about a week. Between the gifts and what we have gotten in hand me downs from Tanner we are fairly ready for this baby. Here is the pile of loot and also some of the trash. Everyone was so great. We got some very cute clothes. This is just an example of all the cuteness. This is the pile of clothes and some of the other loot when I got home and started to organize it. At the end of the shower we got a picture of Aunt Dona with Tanner. Can't wait for our little guy to meet his family. He will get to play with his little cousin and meet his wonderful Aunt as well as all his other wonderful family. We missed the family and friends that weren't able to come to the shower. I can't wait to be able to post pictures of this little guy for everyone to see. I now have all of his clothes washed and folded, they just need to be put away. I have picked out his outfits to take to the hospital and we have pretty much everything packed now. I am working a little bit this week, to stay sane rather than just waiting around for the baby, but I am also enjoying having the time to finish getting ready. It is crazy that he is coming so soon! We are nervous and excited all at the same time.

We Need Addresses!

So I am trying to collect a list of addresses to eventually send out baby announcements and then keeping of file for other family letters like Christmas.... Hopefully I will be on top to things at Christmas :) So anyway... Send me an address if you want to be on our mailing list. You can leave a note or send it to my email at theychic@hotmail.com

In other news... We are slowly starting to get ready for the baby. My mom and I have cleaned out and organized the closets and the baby's room. At least his room is no longer just for storage. The sad thing is that the closet is pretty much empty... yep we have very few baby things. That will change in the next week or so. The shower is this weekend and then I will get the things we need from there, so hopefully in the next week and a half we will have everything that we need.

We also started to pack our things for the hospital. We are missing a few things, but are still working on it. Mostly the things we still need are the things we are still using. At least we have stuff to keep us busy at the hospital. It is crazy that things are getting so close.

Scott and I did have a fun date this weekend. We went mini-golfing and to a movie! We are enjoying our time together and are excited and nervous for the new addition to our family!

Nix Family Olympics

Last Sunday my mom decided to have everyone over for dinner and then to have our own winter Olympics. We had yummy beef stew and then got to start our games. Each family got to bring a game to play and mom provided the medals.
We started by bringing in the torch! My Mom's game: First you had to "ski" around her trees and then mogal down the stairs. Tanner and I headed downstairs to watch the events unfold and provide some cheering on the course... but he looks a little unsure or something....All the kids ended up going along the course with each person that ran it. They were so cute and excited... how many people can be on the mogal course at one time...That was followed by "skating" around a table downstairs before taking on the "ski jump."Tanner even took a turn on the course and had one amazing ski jump. It ended by then running back upstairs to the starting line.

Our next event was the "ice dancing" competition. The required dance was the YMCA.Jessica and Landon, Dan and Addy, and Matt and Chloe all gave us amazing free style dances. Easton joined in all those pairs and was a little upset when the music stopped. Here he is joining Matt and Chloe for their bows.
We played some more fun games and enjoyed the change to hang out and have fun. We also had fun presenting the medals. I helped my mom with them and we had fun. They all had a piece of candy on them, so I was excited for the silver the most cause that was a peppermint patty. Everyone got some medals... the kids really mostly got the same medal for each game. Here is all the kids with their gold medals from the first game. Then it was time to kiss those medals... hey they worked hard for them. At the end of the night Chloe was collecting all the medals she could find. She got most of them, after the candy was eaten by the original owners. This was at the beginning of that quest, she ended up with like 20 medals or so.

The Baby is Growing!

Well its been another few weeks since I posted anything and I suppose it is time to post again. Our schedule is still about the same. Scott has been doing pretty well with school and work. I am feeling way more comfortable with taxes. We were really busy a few weeks ago and I did a lot of returns. Things have slowed down a lot so I am getting a few less hours now. While I could use the hours, it is kinda nice to have some extra time off.... I have just gotten so tired lately. When I get home at nights all I want to do is sit in front of the TV, so not too much has gotten done in our house...

We haven't done too much extra fun stuff. Most of our date nights involve food rather than activities. We did have a great Valentine's day. We just stayed at home and had some friends over. We had a cheese fondue and then a chocolate fondue. They were both so yummy! I just have gotten horrible about taking pictures.... I will have to work on that.

I am growing a little. I had actually lost a pound in my last doctor visit, but that was probably cause I was wearing lighter clothes and shoes. But I am still not really gaining weight so I am still pretty small. Most people still don't believe that I am in my 8th month, but it also depends on what I am wearing. I was trying to take a picture of me today and the shirt that I was wearing did not make me look pregnant at all. So I changed my shirt and went to take a new picture, and the camera battery went dead.... the batteries are charging right now. Maybe this means that I shouldn't post a belly picture :) But I will still take another one and try to post it, since so many people are asking to see it.
OK I took a few pictures.... they aren't that good but they will have to do. The first one is a little hard to see since its red on red. In this one I look a little smaller so I figured I would just post both of them.In other news we made our first big baby purchase... We got a travel system so we now have a car seat to bring the baby home in and a stroller to go for a walk with. There were a bunch of sales a few weeks ago so I decided it was time to get that. That was the one thing that I felt was pretty important to buy new so that we can keep our baby safe, but it was nice to find it on sale for a little cheaper. Crazy to think of our little guy sitting in there in not too long. This picture is taken in the baby's room that is so not ready for him. It's been our storage room for so long it is strange to figure out how to reorganize everything, but a lot of the random things in the room are the kids toys we have had for awhile that will need to find a place in the room.

So this last picture is the one from Brian and Meija being here at the New Year that I was going to post with my last post, but that I was too lazy to do. We were being silly and greatly enjoying our very comfortable almost matching PJs.
