Birthday Bash

I had a very fun birthday this year.  Adam had preschool in the morning so Scott and I got to go on a little breakfast date.  When we picked Adam up from preschool we got a snack and then headed to the train station.
We had a wait a little bit and he had fun pushing the stroller around.
We also found the fountain and made some wishes
Then Adam and Daddy watched for the train to come, you can even see it in the picture above.

Little boys and trains...he couldn't be happier

Outside Union Station.  The street you see is Adam's Street!  Daddy will walk down the street on his way to work and we pass it everyday out here as we drive around.  Adam loves passing his street.
We walked down to the Navy Pier.  On the way we passed the Chicago Tribune Building...(I think that is right).  Anyway on the side of the building they have pieces of other buildings from around the world sticking out.  This one is from the Mormom Temple in Salt Lake City....it made me feel a little closer to home.

We got to the Navy Peir and had to go on the Ferris Wheel.  Adam has wanted to go since our first weekend here when we had talked about it, but he was too tired to go with the group.  We made a deal with him.... It was his second week of preschool and he had an accident right at the end of his first 2 days.  So we made a deal with him.... If he could go 5 days without an accident we would take the train and ride the Ferris Wheel.  We worked hard with him and he made it!  We are so excited that he is doing well.  We were even coming home the other day when he told us and needed to go and we got stuck in traffic.... And he managed to hold it until we got home!
So anyway.  We went up in the Ferris Wheel! And had a beautiful view of the city.

Just chillin

Cheese!  What a beautiful lake!
We finished the night by eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp.  I'm not a seafood person, but I was I in the mood for something different.  I had some shrimp and a yummy salad.  After dinner we took a taxi back to the train station and the train home.  It was a fun day!
That weekend I decided that I wanted a special treat.  I decided that it would try to make an apple pie Carmel Apple.  They turned out well and it was my birthday cake!

Living Life

Our little boy is crazy.  The first weekend of October was General Conference.  We got to listen to the Prophet of God.  There are about 4 hours of talks a day and Adam was amazing and let us watch and listen to most of conference.  At the end of one set of talks we here Adam yelling for help and this is what we find... He is one crazy kid.
Adam had an open house at his school and he got to show us around his classroom.  He showed us that they also have an indoor playground so they can still run and be crazy in the winter.  They had lots of things to do in the room and that included these excerise machines.
We are teaching them early to workout.
He is a cute little boy.

First Day Of Preschool

Our little boy was so excited to finally start preschool.  He calls it his work.  His first day was October 1, 2013.  We had to wait until our stuff arrived to get his birth certificate to get him registered.  He was so excited to get started and he loves it.
Mom was a little excited too!  I took lots of pictures.

Me and my sweet boy!

We walked in and he just jumped in and started playing right away.  He did well even if all the other kids started a month earlier.  While he was playing I went to the front desk to give them some more information and I came back to look in on him and he didn't even care if I was there.  I just left and I felt like I was missing something...that there was more I should be doing.  I got over it quickly....now I am loving my 5 hours a week of free time and Adam loves going to work!

Temple

It took us awhile to get our things in order here in Chicago.  Our moving van with all of our stuff took about 2 weeks to arrive so we were in our apartment with an air mattress for awhile.  We also had a little change with the job.... They had a hiring freeze after we signed the contract and we didn't get the job....but we now have another one that is an even better fit that he will start next week.  We are excited for him to start!  Anyway without stuff or a job we were looking for things to fill our time so that we wouldn't go crazy.  We drove around a lot checking out the area.  On a Monday we decided to drive up to the temple.  It was about a 45 minute drive but we brought some snacks and had fun.
It was fun walking the grounds with almost no one around.
Father and son fun.
At the sign by the front entrance.

This little boy ran around and then decided that he was tired and needed a rest.

In Chicago

We are here.  These pictures are in the wrong order so you can start from the bottom if you want.... I'm too lazy tonight to rearrange them.  I have gotten to visit with some fun friends from high school since moving here.  They only get up here about once a year, and two of them happened to come my first two weekends.
Lindsey lives in Chicago, in the down town area so I have been able to see her the last two weekends.  Cyndi came up to visit yesterday and we took a river boat architecture tour together.  It was fun to learn about Chicago and ride on the river.
Scott and Adam stayed home, we didn't think Adam would last on the tour.  It was fun to have lunch and catch up with an old friend.
One day this week Scott needed to go into the city so Adam and I tagged along.  We walked along Michigan Ave and checked out the River and the Bean Statue.
Fun River

Adam likes water.
We went out to a steak dinner on Monday in memory of my sister.  She passed away almost 7 years ago and Last Sunday would have been her birthday.  It is a fun way to remember her and the amazing example she always was to me.
Last Saturday, the day after Adam and I arrived, my friend Erin from high school and her boyfriend came up.  So we all met up downtown and played together for awhile.  At the end of the night we rode the Ferris wheel and had a wonderful view of the city from up high.
Erin and her boyfriend
The girls.  We went to the Shedd Aquarium and Adam lasted for a little bit and then Scott took him home cause he was so tired.  Erin was nice to give me a ride home later so that I could stay and hang out longer.
We parked at the Navy Pier and took a water taxi over to the meausum and Adam loved looking at the water.

We are here...but without stuff.  It still hasn't arrived, but should be here this week.  Adam is loving the room to run right now and it makes cleaning easier but it will be nice to have a place to sit again.
At the airport.  Saying goodbye to Utah was hard.  We have made such wonderful friends and have loved living close to family.  We miss everyone more than I can describe but are enjoying our new adventure.

Our car getting loaded onto the car hauler.  Adam was at my parents house and we were sad that he missed it, but we did a video chat with them and Adam watched the whole thing until it drove away.  This boy sure does love everything with wheels.
