Birthday Meal at Tucanos

For Scott's birthday he got a free meal at Tucanos, a Brizalian place that is so yummy! So on Wednesday we met Greg, Rachel, and DaNae at Tucanos to have a birthday lunch. So this resturant has a pretty good salad bar, with some hot foods too. Our favorite part is all the meat and other grilled stuff that they bring around. Scott's favorite was the garlic surlion... I had so many favorites I can't name them... grilled pinnapple, turkey wrapped in bacon, and brown sugar pork... okay so I named some of them. The food was so good and I was proud of myself for not eating so much that I couldn't move.

Here is a picture of Scott, me, and Scott's sister DaNae!

And here is a picture of Scott with Greg and Rachel. Greg was Scott's trainer on the mission and Rachel is going to have a baby in the next week or so! Congrats to them!
So here is one of our adventures of birthday week so far. I've felt a little sick this week... just an annoying sore throat so Scott has been good to take care of me. But that means that this birthday week hasn't been too exciting for Scott.... have I explained that birthday week is what Scott's family does and for a week you get to pick the meals and movies and games and whatever... so birthday week gets to continue on a little into next week. After work today I am going to do the Grochery Shopping and try to clean the house a little! Tomorrow will be mostly watching conference.... Happy Birthday Scott!

So I am starting to plan our week to get out to Virginia... We have decided to try and spend an extra day in St Louis and do a little Sight seeing. That just seemed to make more sense than the other options. I am excited to show Scott around... now I just have to figure out what he should see. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Birthday Week Begins

Well it has been a fun and busy week. We haven't really done very much. Work and school have kept us busy. On Friday night we enjoyed a night with our friends Greg and Rachel. We went and saw Greg play with his band and then hung out at their house.
We did have a family BBQ to celebrate my Dad's and Scott's birthdays. Scott BBQed chicken and it was yummy! For dessert my Dad picked a spice cake and Scott choose Carmel Brownies and Rootbeer Floats! Here he is with Chloe with float on their noses!
I started feeling a little sick on Sunday night... a sore throat. So I slept most of yesterday. Scott came home after his class to be with me. He also worked on a school project late into the night. It will be nice when school is over! We both got new scriptures yesterday and we are pretty excited about that.
We are getting excited for the summer! We have an extra day to spend in Virginia before Scott starts work and we are trying to decide what to do that day... We are also excited for people to come and visit us this summer! If anyone else wants to come just let us know.

Busy People

So I'm at work again... but I thought I would take a minute to make an update of our lives. This may be a little long... so feel free to skip it... but if you are interested in what is going on.... here you go.

Scott has been working really really hard at school this week. He has gone to school early most days and stayed late too. Saturday he was on campus the whole day!

Wait I'm getting ahead of myself. So Monday and Tuesday I worked and then got to watch Dancing with the Stars at night. Monday I also worked on a bunch of teaching applications for next year. Wednesday was a teacher fair at BYU so I went down to campus with Scott. I had a couple of interviews that day. They went well.... but there are a lot of history teachers looking for jobs, and not that many job openings with budget cuts... we'll see what happens. The response at all the public schools was that the job postings will be later than usual until they know more about the budget. Wednesday Scott stayed on campus to study while I took DaNae driving for a bit. We are teaching her how to drive a stick so that she can use our car over the summer while we are in Virginia. She is doing good... she just needs confidence.

Thursday I worked all day. Friday Scott and I had our date night. Scott called me at work and asked me to go on a date with him. He said it was only a date if he asked me! He let me plan dinner. I debated over a few things... but it was such a beautiful day that I decided to run to the store to buy some steaks and we had a BBQ out on our balcany. It was so much fun! I had dinner ready for him when he got home from school and then we went to the Roller Rink. It was fun to go roller skating together. We were a little annoyed with all the little kids on scooters that kept cutting us off. One time we were holding hands and some kid tried to go in between us...... It was a little crowded.... but we still had lots of fun. We got there in time to do the Hokey Pokey! It was a cosmic night too! It was cool to skate with the lights going. It reminded me of the times that I went roller skating when I was little! So fun! We stopped on the way home for an Icey at Target. Then we came home and fell asleep on the couch watching movies.

On Saturday Scott was on campus all day and I cleaned the house.... it was very needed. I was doing so well cleaning the house once a week on Saturday morning until about a month ago.... then I started having things to do every Saturday. I got to hang out with my parents for a little in the evening until Scott came and got me.

Sunday we enjoyed sleeping in! We left for church a little early becuase 4 wards were meeting together so that they could change the boundries. We are in the same ward, but really only our complex stayed. The rest of our old ward is now in two other wards.... so they really split us up. We are being joined by another group of apartments that used to be a branch. We are meeting at the same time and place, so for us it is just the people who have changed. It looks like next week we may just have sacrament meeting as they get organized, since alot of the leadership in our ward are now in other wards.

Sunday Scott and I enjoyed the time to have fun and relax. The temple dedication was going on, but we didn't get tickets cause they didn't have enough for everybody in our ward. We had a yummy dinner and then finished the 6th Harry Potter book! It is so fun to read together. I can't wait to start book 7 with Scott... but that may have to wait until after finals. We also watched the Amazing Race! It was nice to spend time together.

So remember how I said it was so beautiful on Friday! well today it is gross... it is snowing..... Silly Utah! It is spring... but I guess Utah didn't get the memo....

Sorry this is so long. Hope you enjoyed the update of our week... I am going to try to do better at updating again!

Basketball

Okay so I guess now is really the time to catch up on our lives. Well there isn't really much going on. Scott loved playing Stake Basketball! He had one or two games each weekend and I went to his games unless I was working. Here he is at one of his games.

His team won the Stake Championship and so they got to play in a regional tournament. That game was this last Thursday and they lost by five. It was sad because most of their team couldn't make it so they only had one sub. Plus the other team was the area single's ward, and their best player, who was playing his first game, started on our team this season, but he switched to the other ward recently. Anyway... we still had fun and Scott is really sad that he is done with playing basketball on a team until next year. This is a basket that Scott made!
Well lets see... Scott has been going to school. I have been working. We are working really hard to save money and our key is to not eat out. We have done pretty well at that... well except for this last week. That would be because it is the first week that I haven't made a menu for... well that will change this week.

One fun date we had was going to the BYU vs. UofU game at the Marriott Center. Matt got us tickets and we had so much fun. Here is Matt and Landon watching the game. Boys and their sports!

Here they are with Jessica... Chloe decided to play with friends instead of going to the game, so she missed a great game.

Scott and I at the game.

The final score... yes BYU WON! That is BYU 63 Utah 50 in case you can't read that. With the words to the BYU fight song underneath.Cosmo was wearing a shirt that I want. It said "I cheer for BYU and whoever is playing U of U!" It was fun to watch BYU come from behind to win the game!

Here is the team on the court celebrating the victory!Okay so there is the basketball stuff. Now the question is what else is going on that is worth mentioning. We are so excited that spring is coming. Today we had a BBQ and ate outside on our balcony. It is fun to have a view of Utah Lake from our balcony. We are getting excited to go to Virginia for the summer. Well at least I am. It will be fun to get to play, and I'm really excited that I convinced Scott to spend an extra day with me in St. Louis on our way out. I will get to show him around a little and hopefully we will get to play around with some old friends. I'm not excited to have Jury Duty in a week where I have to go up to Salt Lake for I think a federal court, hopefully they will settle the case out of court in the next week!

In fun news we have a new nephew... Brian and Meija adopted a boy just a few months younger than Amelia... his name is Roman. We hope to get to meet him soon.

Okay I think that may be enough rambling on for now. We are doing good and loving life!

Happy Birthday Dave

So I mentioned earlier that my brother came into town for his birthday so here are the pictures!
We were really sad that Tammy and Evan didn't get to come to. The girls did enjoy a scrapebook night and here is when of my favorite pages I made for the cruise. I've decided that paper dolls is the best cricket cartiadge! That is what the pirate girl comes from.

Landon and Evan decided that it was a great time to play football with Dave... which really just meant tackling him. They did a good job. They brought him down several times and Dave tried to be careful to make sure he didn't fall on top of the boys.

Happy New Year

So it is time to really catch up since I haven't posted pictures since we returned to Utah. We can start with New Years Eve. We spent the night up at my brothers house. It was fun to see my family again! Here is Scott and I having fun.

This is the way my Dad brings in the New Year!

We left early since Matt and Jess with their kids had just gotten home from their Christmas vacation and they were really tired. But we did go out and do Sparklers before the night was over.

Landon loved the sparklers and he just kept doing them. Chloe wouldn't go near them.

Not much happening

So I'm sitting here at work again. We have gotten pretty busy... but I have a few minutes today. The last few weeks have been fun, but nothing too exciting has happened. My niece Chloe, turned 6 and we had a fun birthday PJ party for her two Sundays ago. She got Twister and we had fun playing with that... but I forgot my camera and so there are no pictures.

This last weekend we enjoyed having Scott's siter, her roommate Rebecca, and my parents over to watch the Super Bowl. We were a little upset when the Cardinals lost, especially when the refs were so stupid and seemed to be a bit one sided (Where was the review on that last fumble???), but we still had fun. Rebecca was a Steelers fan and we didn't even make her sleep outside or walk home... we were being very nice!

My brother is coming for a visit this weekend. I get to pick him up today when I get off work. I'm excited to see Dave and Evan, but really sad that Tammy and Jared won't be coming too. Jared has a bad ear infection and so they don't want to take him on the airplane. We will still have loads of fun, but they will be sorely missed.

So everyday life has involved me working and Scott going to school. This week is his midterms, he has 4 or 5 tests starting in the next two days and going until middle of next week. So he is spending a lot of time at school, staying late to study. We have found out that we will be going back to VIrginia Beach this summer and we are getting really excited. We had a lot of fun last summer! It will be nice to be near the beach and we are going to have a make a trip up to DC, we won't miss that chance this year! I think I have convinced my parents to come for a visit... anyone else is welcome to come too!

So that is about it for our not so exciting life. But even if isn't very exciting we are still loving every minute of it. We are so grateful for every minute that we get to spend together!
